The Speaker and Potluck event, hosted by the Students of Color Union and Black Studies class, was a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and inspiration!
Guest speakers invited by Letta Mason brought powerful stories and talents to the gathering. We were honored to hear from:
🎤 Josephine Howell – a dynamic singer featured on several Grammy award-winning albums, including Macklemore’s.
🎤 Chyee Howell – her daughter and the 2017 Karaoke World Champion.
💙 Laura Blackett – a dedicated advocate from Friends of Youth, sharing impactful insights on community support and youth empowerment.
Of course, the event wouldn’t have been complete without the amazing potluck representing diverse cultures through delicious dishes. Huge thanks to Ms. Finley for her incredible work organizing the food and student volunteers—this was a true community effort!
